This one's a pretty big upgrade from the folks at Empress Valley Supreme Disc.

Thanks to BonzoBonham for the audio upgrade of UMM, but this one is still an upgrade of that version imho in terms of audio and video.

Video looks to have been taken from three sources. The first section - by far the best - starts before the house lights dim, and runs to the end of No Quarter. The out-of-sync section from UMM is now in sync...although a little repair work there is evident. From there through the end of Tangerine, it's still pretty rough...although EVSD has taken a bit of effort to clean up the worst of it. Going To California appears to be from yet another source....probably the same one as UMM.

Overall, color saturation is lower on this version...and the blacks are crushed a bit more than UMM. Less color bleeding and ghosting....significantly greater detail.

Still frames in the following post will show the differences between this one and UMM.

As far as the sound goes.....much cleaner overall, more ambience, higher output level. There are a few clicks and pops, and portions of the repaired sections seem to have been taken from audience recordings.

Comparison between Empress Valley Supreme Disc and Condor version of this show....

I'm noticing more folks are looking at the Condor grabs. Yes, it's more colorful, but it also bleeds all over the place. EVSD is a little darker, and much sharper.

Audio is Dolby Digital, and yes, the darker and more detailed screenshots are taken from this one. Fwiw, the frames were grabbed from the first song, Rock & Roll from two sections in particular. EVSD-1 and Condor-1 are from about the middle of the guitar solo. While EVSD is solid throughout, Condor is kind of all over the place in terms of color and resolution. EVSD-2 and Condor-2 are right at the end of the guitar solo, and give a pretty good indication of how this newer version looks overall as compared with the older one.

To answer Snivlle's question regarding the latter half, it's really subjective which version is of better quality. Looking at the two versions side-by-side from the acoustic section onward, it looks to my eye again that they are from the same source....but that rather than making a gamma adjustment at the toe to bring the black levels closer to those of the first half and leaving the knee alone, the folks who made this one brought the whole thing down. They also pulled the saturation back a bit....again to match the first section a little more closely.

But then, it's all speculation. I have no idea what really went on. What I can say is that when I bought - yes, folks....bought - this one, my jaw literally fell open at how much of an improvement this is over the first version I posted here. So it seemed like a worthwhile cause to torrent this one too.

Does this one have the EV watermark on the corner of the screen as past EV releases have had? Or is it watermark free?

Thanks a lot for this! Hopefully it's an upgrade from the 3 DVD set "Heavy Metal Kids".

Watermark comes and goes....and is smaller than on other EVSD releases.

As for artwork, I'm sure someone will post something at www.zeppelinart.com before long. I'm not going to scan mine.

Regarding Heavy Metal Kids, that's the best version of the May 24 show I've seen yet. The third disc is only a portion of the May 25 night....cuts off during Kashmir. And even that doesn't compare to discs 1 & 2 in terms of quality.

We're mostly comparing apples to oranges here, but I'd say Unstoppable Metal Machine and BonzoBonham's version are both better than what you get on HMK.

That being said, imho the only thing better than DUITHORM so far is the official Zeppelin DVD. Now if we could only get Pagey to give this whole show that same treatment....

ill try to seed this one as long as my ratio is back in the green zone,
but its really hard to find any artwort for this one because its a new release and the title os the same as the tape collection from earls court...so any art would be great

Use DVD Shrink to re-author, no compression. You will only loose the menus.
