This sounds very stupid. Looks like people in trading scene still don't know the video formats.

DVD, BD are losslily compressed formats. Both using MPEG compresion. DVD is MPEG2 and BD can be MPEG2/MPEG4 (aka AVC) or VC-1 (which is a WMV derivative). So most common video formats are lossy as hell. So yes, not too much difference between these formats, only thing is matter how it was encoded. The settings.
