Question How to detect fake Dvd bootlegs from traders? - 02.11.18, 02:59 PM

I received today some Dvds of doubtful quality. They look a lot like some cheap Youtube-rip videos. Is there a software capable of confirming if a dvd bootleg is extracted from the original master?

I would say no but you're actually asking two questions here. A youtube sourced video could still be taken from the master. As well, a DVD or TV or VHS sourced show could come from a master or a highly generated copy. I don't think there's any software that could identify if it's from a master. Somebody else could probably tell you how to detect if something's youtube sourced but I can't As far as quality goes, the fewer the generations, the better the quality. A master recording should have a pretty sharp image, depending on the age of the master.

I don't know if there is a software for that, but this is what I pay attention when trading.

When it comes to old vhs transfers always look for .vob files, the video has to be fluid like it was at 60 fps, most of the rip videos are mp4 or avi and they are not so smooth.

The problem is that these people take those mp4 or avi and they use a "X" software to make a Fake DVD, but they can't match the fluid/smooth (like 60fps) of a REAL VHS TRANSFER.

For instance watch a REAL VHS TRANSFER to DVD of your collection and then watch it on youtube and notice the difference of fluidness(unless the video is at 60fps), that is the only thing I know to be sure if it's real or fake.

As for newer videos no idea.
hope you can understand what I'm saying.
