Originally uploaded by Ford Fairlane in 2007, here's his original notes:

"
Here's a show I forgot about until last year when I was digging through some old tapes and found them. I don't think these tapes were ever played after recording it, so they're in pretty good shape other than sitting so long.
This was a MTV News "Special Report" originally airing in August '96 documenting the decade of the 80s. Each special was 30 minutes, so about 22 minutes each after removing commercials. I figured it'd make a good "10th Anniversary" DVD in 2006, but never got around to uploading...lol

It Came From The 80s
This show focused mostly on pop/new wave, but did throw in a segment on Quiet Riot somehow. It describes the overall culture of the time, and gives an "in depth" look at 4 artists: Men At Work, Quiet Riot, The Thompson Twins, and Vanity.
Collin Hay of Men At Work shows off his grammy/"Kiss of death" award and plays an acoustic version of Down Under that sounds pretty cool. Quiet Riot is shown going from playing stadiums in their heyday to playing a club with about 200 people in the crowd. 2 members of the Thompson Twins live on a sheep farm in New Zealand, and Vanity is born again Christian and seems to try to distance herself from the whole decade.
There's also some "Where Are They Now" segments with Cy Curnin of The Fixx, Pete Burns of Dead Or Alive, Gary Neuman, etc.

It Came From The 80s II: Metal Goes Pop
This show documents the rise and fall of Glam Metal (or Happy Metal as Dee Snider calls it). It's the same format as part 1, just focusing on glam. There's a feature on Poison and Dokken, which shows Bret Michaels working on his new (at the time) movie Letter From Death Row, and the rest of the band lamenting on their excesses. George Lynch seems extra bitter about the whole time in Dokken, and was in the height of his body building days. Don Dokken admits they should have listened to their managers more instead of trying to catch the glam wave. The Where Are They Now segment includes Warren DeMartini walking his daughter to school, Brian "Damage" Forsyth of Kix whitewashing a billboard, Mike Tramp just trying to get a gig, etc.

Bonus Clips
After the initial airing of part 2, MTV played the "Video Collection" of bands featured in the show, hosted by Bret Michaels. Since most of the videos are commercially available, I took out the videos and left the boards leading in/out. There's a couple additional interviews, but mostly Bret hamming it up at the Rainbow introducing videos. Out of a 2 hour special, it's now down to about 7 minutes...lol

I figure most people on this board would like this for part 2, but since they're so short, I put both parts on one disc. Artwork is included in the torrent."

I don't have the over, so if you have it please pos it.
