Partial Bio (added simply for kicks and giggles):
Mötley Crüe was formed on January 17, 1981 when bass guitarist Nikki Sixx left the band London and began rehearsing with drummer Tommy Lee and vocalist/guitarist Greg Leon. Tommy Lee had worked previously with Greg Leon in a band called Suite. The trio practiced together for some time with Leon eventually deciding not to continue. The bassist and drummer then began a search for new members. Sixx and Lee soon met guitarist Bob "Mick Mars" Deal (anyone ever wonder why I used ReaLDeaL?). Mars was quickly auditioned and subsequently hired by Sixx and Lee. The group was still in need of a singer. Lee had known Vince Neil from their high school days, but after seeing him perform with the band Rock Candy at the Starwood in Hollywood, it was Mick Mars who suggested Mötley Crüe hire Vince. The band's first release was the single "Stick to Your Guns/Toast of the Town," which was released on their own label, Leathür Records, which had a pressing & distribution deal with Greenworld Distribution in Torrance. It is said that the single was also distributed at concerts the band performed in those early days. In November 1981, their debut album Too Fast for Love was self-produced and released on Leathür, selling 20,000 copies... This led to interest from Electra records... The rest and even this info is common knowledge to Crueheads like myself and others.

My Notes:
1. *This has to be the worst quality video that I ever have or ever will author and share.* Please, feel free to complain, I love all the feedback! Butt... know that you were warned in advance.

2. Originally labelled: Motley Crue - 1981-04-24&25 - Starwood, Los Angeles, CA (Full with Bonus Shout Tour Footage) (Thanks to Sikki!)
The Bonus Shout Tour footage is a whole show from Quebec 1984, but BTB Productions released a much better version than what is on this original DVD. This one has a timer in the upper right corner throughout the show, is missing part of "In The Beginning" before "Shout", and is simply not as good as BTB's version from a quality standpoint. That BTB version, however, will not play past the menu, and therefore, could be my next project to re-author... We'll have to see about that.

3. There are three versions (Mine will make 4, but is the most complete.) floating around: Sikki's "Full" version which is most of this footage...
"In The Beginning" was released by Hard1 Video in 2002 and the remaster section of this share comes directly from that. It also includes the 1983 US festival footage (from master tape, digitally remastered) which was officially released to VHS way back when.
"Mötley Crüe - Young And Crazy - The Early Days" shared by Bootlegdvdz Productions is virtually identical to Hard1's video but includes the Live Wire Promo Video and has "Take Me To The Top" and "Toast Of The Town" remastered in the extras section of the DVD. "Toast Of The Town" has no audio, however, and after many tries to rip "Take Me To The Top" from this DVD (I re-did every part of it, but it's not there.)... Strangely, I couldn't manage it.

4. This version that I'm sharing will be the most complete and is authored with a menu and chapters on songs.

5. All credit to those deserving of it... I take no credit for this video or audio. The only "work" that I did was took apart one version (Sikki's) and added pieces of "Hard1 Video"'s remastered part from "In The Beginning."

6. Well, I did add "Running Wild" to the Top Menu page. This comes from the Shout At The Devil sessions... It was released on "Early Sessions" as well as on the 4 CD "Shout At The Demos" and re-released more recently on "Red Hot Spectaculars." This version happens to be from the "Early Sessions," although, I doubt there's much if any difference between the lot of them.

I already have 2 versions of this share. As a diehard, I'm aware of the quality. Still a nice upload. I'm tempted to download it to compare to what I have. This is the info from the version I downloaded from Dime:

"MOTLEY CRUE April 24/25, 1981
Hollywood, CA
The Starwood

Before I say anything I should say this show is for chronic crueheads and completists. The picture is dark. The audio's actually good considering the age. But a great show(s) Neither are complete shows, but this is the Crue when they were starving...and raw! This is the Crue before Too Fast For Love...even the Leathur Records release.

Setlist:

Stick To Your Guns
Nobody Knows What It's Like To Be Lonely
Public Enemy #1
Toast of the Town
Too Fast For Love
Nobody Knows What It's Like To Be Lonely
Tonight (not the THEATRE OF PAIN one)
Mick Mars Solo
Stick To Your Guns
Public Enemy #1

Not sure what songs are from what nights. There's obviously a few of the songs twice, but from different nights.

Anyway...that being said...enjoy the show and let's get some more Crue up on here!"

Many thanks Bob for your authored version, even it's bad quality, I think this is the 1st show of the Crüe filmed.

That's absolutely true, Chris. This is the earliest Crue show in existence.
@ Badbonz69 or anyone out there with another version of this... I would so love to have an upgrade to this if there is one better. This is the only one that I know about that's been authored, but I mean video quality wise... Any upgrade would be appreciated greatly! Especially want a more complete version of Paperback Writer... it's on youtube... so it's out there... I just don't have it. Also, you're correct, according to setlist.fm, there were two shows on the 24th and two shows on the 25th. I have them separated here, but the DVD plays straight through. In other words, if you're watching the 24th show and it's over it will continue into the 25th and then the remasters section... then, go back to the beginning of the 24th show. That's just my preference.

I didn't know there was any other complete versions besides the one Sikki posted years ago on his site. As I mentioned, there are 2 remastered versions but they are both incomplete. This is (was), in my opinion, the most wanted Crue show ever. I was on the fence about sharing this one publicly for several reasons. One, of course, is the quality. Two, I expected some of "those" people to say, "There he goes again mucking up the trading pool!" Three, this is likely the best trading DVD as so many people weren't able to get it while Sikki's links were good. (They've been dead for years.) But... after much thought, I decided that instead of constantly telling people how bad quality this is when they ask for it... I'd give it out! Also, with the Crue about to quit touring and no one else sharing any shows of them but me... what show might spark an interest? I'm going to keep going guys... join me!

PS I was wrong about the 1984 Quebec show from BTB Productions not playing past the menu... it just wouldn't play from the DVD I had... once back on the hard drive it works fine. So, I will not be re-authoring that one.

There was an auction several years ago for the "Coffman Masters" of these early club shows. Someone posted songs from these masters to youtube. My friend and I tried to buy these masters but the auction got too high. Now they are hoarded except for the youtube clips which are excellent for the year and equipment.
