It has come to my attention that some members do not have high speed access and are missing out on some of the gems here. With that in mind, I will offer up these two awesome shows. Thanks to Lou and jamhead64 @easytree for sharing these shows.

Notes:
This is a commonly circulated show; however nothing except the master
compares to this version, a 1st generation cassette. This terrific, warm,
SB-like audience recording captures the band "On Fire," opening up the
1979 World Vacation tour. This would be the band's first performance of
"Light Up The Sky," "Dance The Night Away," "Beautiful Girls," "You're
No Good" and "Outta Love Again." This show is also the only recorded
1979 performance of "D.O.A." The extended intro to "You Really Got Me" is quite nifty...the tone and style of it sounds as if Ed was deliberately
trying to sound like the Kinks' original. Bottoms Up! also has a cool
intro as well as part of "I'm The One" thrown in the middle...these are all
reasons why this show, and this 1st gen version, is a must-have for any
VH fan.
Ed took his guitar playing to another notch in 1979. There's definitely
something different about it...it's damper, more elastic-sounding.
For those who are wondering, there's no doubt in my mind that the "Live
And Loud" bootleg is a couple of generations higher. In my opinion,
there's also too much treble in the equalization of "Live And Loud." This
being a lower generation, I contend it's warmer and richer than that
bootleg despite the equalization that was done to it. "Live And Loud"
also has slight tape drag for the last few tracks whereas this does not.
I'm not sure why "Ice Cream Man" is cut at the tail end here whereas
it's not on "Live And Loud." The bootleg "On Fire In Fresno" also has
this cut.
Some notable Daveisms:
After "Runnin' With The Devil": "We've been celebrating backstage. How
about you, you've been celebrating? I see somebody right here, he's
offering a celebration."
After "You're No Good": "Well that sure ain't Linda Ronstadt style, I'll tell
ya."
During "Feel Your Love Tonight": "I think my pants are coming undone
in the back. This is most embarrassing, man."

Bottoms Up!
i got this show from a friend of my girlfriends. he was a doorman years ago in nyc, and gave me a stack of van halen tapes from their 78 tour of england opening for black sabbath.
these tapes belonged to somebody who worked for the band during this time. guess he left stuff at his fathers place, and they had some sort of falling out and dad started giving all his sons stuff away that was just taking up space. guess the tapes sat in a closet for years after and are now being put to cd and over time should find their way into the homes of many.
i want to say that these are soundboard recording, but might just be high end audio stuff. im not really sure what was being used in 78 to tape shows, but most stuff that is not sbd usually sounds like crap, and these do not at all. im not sure of the gens on the tapes either, but think they are either masters or 1st gens. i do not want to start any false info about the tapes, just want people to know what i know.
anyways please do not convert to mp3 or sell this.
