restarting a download without resume

I had to delete the files of a torrent that I was downloading. Now that I want to restart it, I've noticed that it remembers the old amount of data downloaded before, and after a while, it gives me an error an restarts downloading. So the question is, how can I clean the informations of a previous download and starting it as a new one?

I would delete the whole folder and start it over

That's the same advice I would give. Just delete anything created by the torrent when you started downloading the first time. As long as there isn't a folder with a matching name in the location you choose to save to, you shouldn't have any issues with a resume feature :)
