View Full Version : VH US Festival Disc 1
vcr5150
12.11.04, 11:03 AM
As promised, here is the BTB version of the "20th Anniversary Edition" of Van Halen's historic performance at the US Festival.
The date was 5/29/83, and VH would anchor the 3 day music festival. This show is not their best performance, but totally captures what the band was. Allegedly, there was some heavy :drunk: going on all day for them before they took the stage - see if you notice.
DISC 1:
Backstage Party
Romeo Delight
Unchained
Drum Solo
The Full Bug
Running with the Devil
Jamie's Crying
So this is Love
Little Guitars
Bass Solo
Dancing in the Street
Somebody Get Me a Doctor
Girl Gone Bad
I'm So Glad
Dance the Night Away
Cathedral
Secrets
Drum Solo
Everybody Wants Some
Once this gets going, and gathers seeds, I will start Disc 2
Torrent includes artwork
Enjoy, trade freely, and DO NOT sell!!!

Thanks vcr5150. Classic show... One I've already got, but this is a definate upgrade!
Leechers... be sure to rate your seeder if you were pleased with your experience! :)
Yeah !!! Thanks for this vcr5150.
I've got a ropey old MPEG of the whole show, and a decent quality MPEG of the 3 songs from the highlights show that was broadcast. Will be interesting to see what this one is like.

sweet! Thanks a million!
Well what can I say. This disc has an intro I haven't seen before and is MILES better than my crappy VHS copy. Unfortunatly I gotta log off for a few hours, but I'll be seeding on and off all week. JUMP on this- you won't regret it!
BTW, I got the disc error (byte error?) message when burning with Nero, but it burned just fine and works on all of my DVD players- don't worry if you get the same message- just click OK and burn it anyway. :thumb:

Looks much better than the mpg I have. I'll quick and burn it and jump back on seeding. Thanks again fo this one, looking forward to disk 2.
Oh, I also redid the artwork so it looks a little better. Stayed with the origonal look except for the crowd shot on the back.

I get those with about 1/4 of the DVDs I download. It's just cuz one of the files in the VIDEO_TS folder are not of a logical block size (2kb)... if it ends in an odd number (as no "factory" or "produced" DVD should), then the program may give you an error. It should still play properly :thumb:

OK, this is the weirdest thing ever. EVER. I downloaded this torrent, but my computer cant see the file. It sees the torrent file, and I can open it and seed the show, so I know that I have the data on my computer somewhere...
Now in Bittorrent 3.4.2, the place where the file lives on your computer is right there...'Download to:'...I follow the path (its where I download ALL my shows) to the folder, and yet IT'S NOT THERE! Ive searched for it using the windows file search...
The 'cover art' jpeg downloaded just to the general 'Music' folder (where all the torrents are)...windows never made a 'VH.USFest1' folder where the jpeg, text file and VIDEO_TS files should be. And yet, I am seeding this. I WANNA WATCH IT!!! (weirdest thing EVER). Ive heard that there are some weird things going on with this torrent...any thoughts? (and yes, ive tried everything that a reasonably inclined computer person would try to locate the file...)

That's nuts dude... The only thing I can tell you is that the folder for each disc was properly created and browseable (is that a word?) on my HD. It's not hidden or anything wierd like that. I'm at a loss dude... short of running a HD search for *.vob and then looking at every path returned... if the files exist on your system, they'll show up in that search, for sure. Don't know if that helps any, but this is the strangest thing I've ever heard of.

So I re-downloaded the torrent to my desktop...opened it TO THE DESKTOP, and now I have the proper VH.USFEST1 folder with VIDEO_TS files and everything on the desktop...the funny part is that IM NOW SEEDING MYSELF!!!!!!!
I'll do a search for *.vob files to see if I can uncover the original files...

absolutely the weirdest thing EVER!

12.13.04, 05:32 PM
ahhhhhh! I figured it out...
The Randy Rhoads 'Six String God' DVD that I downloaded from eztree...that guy torrented the 'VIDEO_TS' file...for some reason, the bit torrent program never made a 'VH.USFest1' file in my 'music' folder (where all my downloads go...) and just downloaded all the files into the Randy Rhoads 'VIDEO_TS' file!
Bizzare! I just hope that when I burn, it knows which files...
The US Fest files probably overwrote the Randy Rhodes files. :( Worse, you might have a mix of the two.....
Dave's PA Rental
12.13.04, 05:49 PM
Nope, it knew which files to burn! And the randy files are still there...
Thanks for seeding this...now onto disc 2 (hopefully a little more smoothly)
Oh oh- looks like I may have been leeching off of you Dave, cause halfway through the US festival Randy Rhodes starts playing guitar for Van Halen. Later on, Dave is singing for Black Sabbath
Just kidding- good for you to share your story- this torrent thingy has been a bit of a process for me as well. I remember about the 10th torrent I tried it stopped about halfway through with plenty of seeds and leechers. The torrent would not download whatever I did. After about a day of this I finally figured out why- my hard drive was full :o
You don't even want to hear about what a PITA it was to open up the ports on my wireless router...

12.13.04, 06:31 PM
this torrent is posessed! So I go to re-open my window after a succesful burn (that I am watching right now...) and it stops at 99% and downloads another 6MB of data! I didnt change anything in the RR VIDEO_TS file! Ive burned and then re-seeded dvd's before, and ive never seen the file regress and need to be completed AGAIN! Dude, my head hurts... :dunno:

The same thing happened to me. I have my VH files from disc 1 of the US festival in my Randy Rhoads file!
Now how do I figure out which files are the right ones to burn?

my burning program picked the right files...I dont know how...you should be able to tell the files apart by 'date modified'...make a separate folder and move the files there... :dunno:
Can someone post just the artwork please?
Thanks

You know what guys... that happened to me once recently, now that you mention it. It was with the 2cam VH Toronto 04 show... I had downloaded and burnt... then, about 2-3 days later, some help was needed, so I reseeded... from the exact same, unmodified folder... but Azureus would only verify 99% of the data!??! It got the last 1% in less than 15 minutes from the 1 seed that was left, so I didn't think much of it at the time.
Wierd. What clients are you guys using... has this been experienced with multiple programs, or are we all using Azureus??? There was an update to it recently, I wonder if it contains a small bug of some sort?
Oh, and no problem DavesPA... I lose shit on my HD all the time... I always fall back on Wildcard searches - Usually a strange path will jump out at me.
In any event, glad you got the problem squared away... well, for the most part :D

I'm positive it's not your fault, VCR... The torrent is created and working properly... I can't imagine what the bug or glitch is. The tracker also seems to be working perfectly fine as well... at least in all other instances.

Thanks you sooooo much for these US Fest DVD's, at last I have a decent copy of this....
.....just one thing though, the 3 TV edits at the end of disc 2 seem to me to be quite a poor copy. There's a far better 400mb MPG copy of this I got hold of on Kazaa, which included the Ozzy TV edit also.
That's just an observation, NOT a criticism. I can post it if anyone is interested. This place rocks.
I'm seeding both discs now.

Try checking the dates beside the file names and see if you can remember which days you downloaded what. The dates should indicate when you last modifed the files and that's usually when you downloaded em. Maybe that can help separate them.

That's what I'd do. Good advice. You could make it a bit easier by going to "view" then "details" in windows explorer... then click on the "modified" column header to sort by the date the files were modified.
You should get two groups... the RR files, and the US Festival files... just as long as you didn't do them on the same date :thumb:

This good, not the best transfer from vhs to dvd, but considering the source....
Would be real nice if someday they would use the original film and convert that to dvd,but VH wants nothing to do with the roth era.
As led zep converted there old material to dvd this would be so awesome!
It takes alot of time and money to convert to digital, i might try using final cut pro to clean this up.

Will someone be so kind as to re-seed VH US Fest disc 1 and 2? I am new to the site and cannot get any torrents to work. Seems I discovered the site at a bad time. I'm usually on EasyTree.

I could bring these 2 discs back soon, but not just yet as I have too many others going right now.
Maybe in a few days though. It's like that 77-84 years torrent, I've got it and don't mind seeding, but I just can't kill the others too soon to put something else up again.
Just hang in there guys, I'll get around to it eventually and hopefully others could chip in with these too. This is one show everyone should at least have, IMO. :thumb:

Both of these discs now should be working with the newest Tracker (as long as you use this particular torrent file and not the old one).
Though I don't know why nothing is showing on the first page yet. (ie. it's not showing seeders or leeches yet... strange, as I did include the web url and followed the instructions to the letter)
I am showing connections that are working fine in my client and the Tracker looks fine too. Just nothing showing on the main page. At least it's working and maybe that'll update itself or something.
