This site claims to own the Black and White footage that is available on the Led Zeppelin officially released DVD. Does that seem possible? I checked on the DVD liner notes and did not find their name anywhere on their althouigh the Danish TV studio is named. I wonder if they actually own all of this footage that is listed on their website?
I am skeptical as to whether they do in fact own the Zep Footage. Or the other stuff for that matter.

Checking out their Ozzy collection and it's just a few music videos. I know damn well Sharon wouldn't allow them to "own" them. Looks like they just "have" them just like we do

Zep33....goiod catch. As I stated their name is listed nowhere as an owner for the Zeppelin material used on the DVD. I think, but can not be sure, what we have here is a very professional looking and sounding pirate company. Just like that copmnpany was planniong on releasing the Pink Floyd KQED footage and recently got pulled by Floyd's management. People claim to own all sorts of things.
Still in my most humble opinion if the band or publisher are not making money off of a release then it should be fair game for trading. Of course that is cause I love waking up and finding rare stuff like this on here but hey ; )

I was under the impression that this was at the arena formely known as Brendan Byrne Arena but now I see that this arena did not open until 1981.

So was this Boston show at this venue? And the 1980 ELO show must have been either in 81 or at a different venue as well. My brain is shot.....LOL
I got some proshot Rush footage from 76 that has that same "ME-94" or some # stamped on it. Think I got it at DIME a year ago or so. Bet it came from the same place
Thank You VERY much for sharing this concert of Boston, this will be my first time ever seeing them in concert...:)
If anybody else has any decent quality video footage of them please feel free to share it.
Much Appreciated

Ron,
I was going off the idea that this show is performed in broad daylight. That to me has always indicated an opening act since the headliner usually plays with full lighting just as it is getting dark. I also did not watch the whole thing. I guess I should have before commenting but I wanted to get my thanks out there as quickly as I could while the thread is still active.
Sorry I was wrong about them not being the headliner. :(
DR
??? What opening act?
Another "thank you" to all those that made this show possible --- but I'm finding it hard to believe that nobody has yet mentioned that there are big numbers and letters plastered right in the middle of the screen the whole time.
A tape counter I can deal with....but why is there a large "ME-94" or "ME-95" smack in the middle of the picture? This couldn't possible be on the master, so who put them there????
I'm finding it hard to believe that nobody has yet mentioned that there are big numbers and letters plastered right in the middle of the screen the whole time.
The screen shots in the 2nd post of this thread show the watermark, plus it's mentioned a couple of times deep in the thread.

The source that "released" this footage is the one that most likely put the mark there. Probably done to track where copies go.

Is it or will it be possible to get this Boston '79 footage without the "watermarks"?
Refer back to the post that discusses the prices charged by the place that owns these films. It said: "LICENSING RATES: A standard MINIMUM fee of $500.00 is charged once master footage is ordered. The specific rights required will determine the minimum fee." So, if you are willing to pay enough money (probably a minimum of a few thousand dollars), I think you can get the footage without the watermark.
Until that time - just be glad you can watch it in any form - watermark or no watermark.

This site claims to own the Black and White footage that is available on the Led Zeppelin officially released DVD. Does that seem possible? I checked on the DVD liner notes and did not find their name anywhere on their although the Danish TV studio is named. I wonder if they actually own all of this footage that is listed on their website?
I am skeptical as to whether they do in fact own the Zep Footage. Or the other stuff for that matter.
Film footage is a physical medium. Just like most pieces of physical medium, someone owns it. However, the material contained within the film is copyrighted. Ownership of the film itself and the copyrighted material contained within are two separate things.
It's very likely that this place does own the actual films.
Thanks...can't wait to watch.
Randy,
A couple of purely hypothetical questions. Say I wanted to fork over the cash. What are Tom S. rights? Could he or any other member of the band stop me from buying a copy? Similarly, if I contacted the production company who did the Oakland 81 VH vids (the name of the company is listed somewhere in the credits), could I get them to send me a mint copy?

Randy,
A couple of purely hypothetical questions. Say I wanted to fork over the cash. What are Tom S. rights? Could he or any other member of the band stop me from buying a copy? I think it depends mostly on the agreement (contract) at the time it was filmed. It could be a deal where the filmers got all rights to the film and can do whatever they want with it. Or the band could have complete distribution rights. Or it could be a situation where one has limited distribution rights (where they can broadcast it in theaters - but not release in on VHS or DVD, or something like that).
Similarly, if I contacted the production company who did the Oakland 81 VH vids (the name of the company is listed somewhere in the credits), could I get them to send me a mint copy?
ffoner
Same response as before...
And it all gets really mired up when you get situations like Van Halen's - where there are probably multiple parties who have ownership - not all of whom are necessarily on speaking terms - but all would have to come to an agreement before something could be done with it.

While I am EXTREMELY PSYCHED to have ANY Boston footage whatsoever (so, thank you to the uploader!), I must say how disappointed I was with the performance!
Having never seen or heard Boston live, I am left wondering - were they always this much of a trainwreck live?
Anyone know if their performances were usually this sub-par?
Every song drags at half tempo and the bass player misses half of his cues?!
Anyways, SERIOUSLY, thanks for this disc...it's cool just to have footage of the band.

Boston was basically a one hit wonder (that one hit being their first album - which spawned several hit singles). The second album did OK, but it was pretty much a repeat of the first album, and the only reason people bought it was because of the first album. And the third album... that came out eight years after the second album, was way too late to make an impact and didn't do much.
But if you were a teen in the '70s and you liked rock 'n' roll music, it's pretty much guaranteed that you knew Boston's first album by heart. They were huge for a 2-3 year period.
As far as the live show goes... Boston was never known for great live shows. They made their mark in the studio on the first album, and that's pretty much where their careers started and ended.

05.22.06, 03:42 AM
What a great find! I saw Boston twice in '79. Once at the Charlotte Coliseum with Sammy Hagar as the warm-up, and then at the old Memorial Stadium later in the Summer with Poco and ARS. There is a reason for the Headline act playing in the daylight. The start time for the show had to be moved up so that it ended at 10 pm. This was because of the Ted Nugent concert the year before where a riot started during Motor City Madhouse. Nothing like baking in the Summer sun all day. :drunk: Also , the country was still reeling from the Cinci Who show which slowly marked the end of large gen. admission concerts. As far as the performance itself, you have to keep in mind the sound systems were primitive (and very loud) and Boston was a studio band. Thanks so much for this and anything else that comes from the 70's.

this is a gem and a super rarity.
also it is very ridiculous to read how some of you are complaining about the quality or the time track yadda yadda. that is outrageous considering the fact that this is the only known live pro shot footage of the classic boston lineup ever to circulate as the videos for more than a feeling, dont look back, and foreplay/longtime are only promos. i believe there is some 8mm footage of them on the dont look back tour going around as well but this is the only pro shot footage availible in the history of this great band (classic lineup though).
to have some of you complain is downright stupid.
oh ya sorry i forgot to add that the man ill never be promo was shot live as well but that is about it.

I already told you I knew what Watermarking was: I do not need any further reading on that topic. I am just complaining that the Watermarking in this concert is MOST stupid. They could've put the watermark in a corner, NOT in the middle of the screen!! The only aim of that is to spoil the watching of it.
Just my two cents!
Greetz.

omg I missed it
my bad you da man :thumb:
This footage is very poor. It constantly alternates between icky Black & White and color. If the whole thing were in color, then the quality could actually be considered ok; about a 7 out of 10. Why seed shit? Let's stick to good qualtiy releases only. Poor quality in the name of "rarity" only wastes bandwidth and clogs up the internet and continues to proprogate the shit to others. That Who at the Isle of Wright in 69 is terrible too. . ..a complete waste of bandwidth. I was a professinal musician, and I've worked in the audio/visual field as well; I don't understand why anyone would want very low-grade video or audio, just because some rock star in on it. . .
Bittorrent activity is starting to be monitored all over the world where high speed connections are available. ISPs are starting to use advanced packet monitoring that goes well beyond normal port/stateful firewall filtering. Wasting bandwidth, while risking bringing unwanted attention to bandwidth consumption, is just plain silly for poor quality materials. Just my grumpy older 2 cents.

you're an idiot
This footage is very poor. I can't possibly sell this on Ebay unless the I can find a better copy. It constantly alternates between icky Black & White and color. If the whole thing were in color, then the quality could actually be considered ok; about a 7 out of 10. And I could sell it for $25 on ebay instead of only $9.99. Why seed shit? I'll get bad feedback if I sell this on Ebay. Let's stick to good qualtiy releases only. That way I can keep my Ebay buyers all happy and let them continue in their blissful, ignorant ways. Poor quality in the name of "rarity" only wastes bandwidth and clogs up the internet and continues to proprogate the shit to others. But I'm sure I can still make a pretty penny with this stuff - just not as much as if the quality were better. That Who at the Isle of Wright in 69 is terrible too. . ..a complete waste of bandwidth. I listed it 3 times and no one bid on it. Thank god the Black Sabbath Paris 70 show and the Kiss Houston 77 show I got from here will make me some dough. I was a professinal musician, and I've worked in the audio/visual field as well (selling audio and video stuff on Ebay); I don't understand why anyone would want very low-grade video or audio, just because some rock star in on it. . . I joined DAD yesterday so maybe I'll be able to find some higher quality stuff there to sell.
Bittorrent activity is starting to be monitored all over the world where high speed connections are available. Luckily, I haven't been caught selling on Ebay yet. ISPs are starting to use advanced packet monitoring that goes well beyond normal port/stateful firewall filtering. I figure while all that stuff is getting monitored, I'll just sell the stuff I already grabbed. Wasting bandwidth, while risking bringing unwanted attention to bandwidth consumption, is just plain silly for poor quality materials. Just my grumpy older 2 cents.

LOL!!! Great sleuthing !!!
You da man. this guy should be banned from jjt!!!

Someone should alert his ISP that he's downloading crap and then sells it... Pretty sure that's against ISP regulations....

I've already contacted the bidders for the KISS show. Told them that if they'd retract their bids, I'd send it for free.
Hello,
In my own defense, I didn't realize everyone would get so upset at me for my comments about video quality.
The KISS show on eBay DID NOT come from a bittorrent; I purchased it privately from someone in Australia.
The Black Sabbath performance was downloaded from here. Once the eBay advert runs out, it will not be posted again by me.
On an aside, some folks don't know how to get a hold of these concerts. The first few that I got were purchased, and I was glad to do so. Before flaming me and calling me names, why not express your concerns as gentlemen instead?
I have not referred to any of you as "idiots" or "dicks". We are all guilty of nefarious activity with illegal music trading. Do you not remember when the entire "Napster" community believed that they too were impervious to getting shut down for mp3 file sharing? I apologize for not knowing that there was some unspoken etiquette as regards making the material available for low cost.
Some people, for instance those in the UK, pay a great deal more than we in North America for high-speed connections; maybe some of those collectors are glad to pay the equivalent of $20 for rare concert footage. In any case, the defence rests and I will not offend any of you nor break any of the rules of bootleg sharing in the future.

What I find offensive is that you sell them at a profit. Your argument goes nowhere if you make a profit. If you did it for the purpose of "making it available", you would be selling them at $1 above cost (a couple of bucks for shipping, a couple of bucks for your time and the media would end up at $5 for a total...
If you really wanted to show that you were doing it because you want to make it available, you could add the URLs to jtt and dime in your auctions!
Generally speaking (and someone set me straight if needed) people that sell live recordings are frowned upon.
I always add to my recordings: FREE FOR TRADE, NEVER FOR SALE
Hello enchantgy,
Well, I've thought about what you wrote and I'm glad to now have a better understanding of how the community operates. I appreciate your candor and good manners in giving me your good advice. As I had stated before, I was a professional musician, and I was not out to intentionally hurt anyone or anything. Thank-you for the insights you've shared.

What are the chances you're gonna forgo that $81.00 winning bid for the KISS video and let the guy have it for the cost of a disc + shipping? As a musician myself (in New Orleans, no less) I understand the value of a dollar, but know selling is considered an unforgivable sin here.

We're not upset with you about your comments about quality. I'm sure the seeder could give a crap less about your opinion. What pisses people off is you leeching shows from here and blatently admitting that you sell them on eBay to pay your bills. Did you spend countless hours recording the show, authoring the dvd, tying up your pc uploading the show to many others, just so some friggin idiot can make a profit off it? You and your kind are the reason I quit sharing on Dime. I haven't shared any of my own dvd's here yet, but I do try to download/upload 1 for 1 here and thank everyone who I download from. If was a moderator here, you would be banned right now. And by the way, it's not an unspoken etiquette of what you're doing. It's called having good morals and a respect for other peoples work. None of us here have the right to sell these shows because they are someone else's creation. The ARTISTS themselves are the only ones that have the right to sell THEIR music. We should be grateful to be able to share live recordings. It's people like you who fuck it up for the rest of us...

The community operaties on the pricipal that we (as traders) do not want to profit (in money) from the music. If we can do a trade to obtain some recording from someone, then fine. But an unofficial recording should NEVER be sold. The last thing we (again, as traders) is get the musicians on the attack. Which is what we would be doing if we made a profit off of their work. What we're doing is ultimately not legal. But at least we're doing the right thing by not charging money for the recordings we have obtained.
As a musician yourself... how do you face yourself when you look in the mirror and realize that you sold a DVD containing music made by another musician, (that was provided to you for free) for $81 ???
I could make a lot of money with the collection that I have. You can call me stupid for not attempting it... but it goes against the spirit of "free trade".
Sorry for the hyjack of this tread. I'm done.

The comments about the quality were pretty shitty too though. It's not like this show cost you $81.00 on Ebay.
I no longer have any DVD(R)s on eBay. In some sort of militant mode of counter action, I suspect that one of the persons on this forum ended up costing me $$ in eBay fees because of ridiculously high bidding. The bid was then declined and I was challenged to file a claim. It's one thing to "scold" me; it is quite another to malign me or set out to do harm to me as that individual had done.
I apologize for causing a disturbance here at JTT. I apologize to the moderators of this forum. Thank-you for the membership to this forum.
As regards those of you who publicly chastised me with under nickname anonymity, I would expect that public apology of name calling is in order. I doubt that the moderator will want to ban me for a single refraction. Perhaps if I stopped donating, or continued auctioning bootleg materials on the bay, he or she may give pause and consider it in the future.
You can express concern, or even anger, without resorting to name calling. Hell, I wouldn't even tolerate by my men under conflict duress.

As far as the kiss DVD costing you money gampy... I'm pretty sure that the money you have made with other bootleg DVDs sold in the past more than covers the fees that ebay charged you this time.
And I will NOT retract calling you a dick. You deserved the title. As you may have noticed... I didn't do any more "namecalling" but am quite ready to start again if needed. It seemed to push your buttons. So, if needed, I got more... :D
Dokkendude...thank you...thank you...thank you!! One helluva find!! One more comment...these guys donīt sound bad. You have to keep in mind that all of their albums were pretty much over-produced...in a good way, mind you. Itīs what was necessary, I guess, to reach that trademark BSOTON sound. Letīs cut them some slack...and enjoy their performance!! I thought it was pretty damn good!! A highly recommended post!! Cheers...

Hey guys, I guess this bootleg was infringing on some copyright law, so I just removed it at the request of the copyright holder.
Sorry about that. Let's make sure we don't put it up again, and let me know if you see it again here. I don't want any issues over something like this.
