View Full Version : Van Halen III: Live from Australia 1998-04-28
(grab the updated txt file here (http://www.jamtothis.com/showpost.php?p=32072&postcount=4) )
This is a re-seed, from a request. I re-ripped this video from the DVD I burned so the checksums will be different from anyone elses most likely.
There are also a couple glitches in the whole DVD, these were there when I originally downloaded the disc (my checksums matched then so I assume it was a bad original rip or transfer. not much to be done about it.)
This Appears to be a VCD -> DVD transfer as the quality is good but the video resolution is small.
Artist: Van Halen

Is this a VCD transfer? 65 minutes should be a full disc 4GB+

I was wondering to, because i already have this as a VCD to DVD torrented before.
I'de love to find this done proper from a perfect source to DVD.
Being its not old, and PRO Shot.. there has to be a HQ 4GB+ DVD out there somewhere.
Anyone seen it?
good post thou.. Ed is simply amazing on this tour :thumb:

That's most likely true. I didn't think of that or I would have put it in the description.
The quality is good but the video resolution numbers are small. :(
I've changed the main description and attached the updated text file to this post.

I can guarantee that OSKY/Cato would never do a VCD to DVD ... someone must have basterized their work.

isnt the date supposed to be the 20-04-98???
Yes, April 20, 1998 is the correct date for Sydney.

man, could i screw up my first torrent anymore :( :dunno:
my original disc said 4-20-98 on it but when i went to vhtrading.com it said 4-28. i assumed it was more correct since it had other information as well. :sigh:
if anyone can give the real info on this (ie: correct any other mistakes) i'd appreciate it.
anyone: what's the proper procedure for stuff like this? (errors on my part, etc.) do i just re-up the text file like i did? or just edit the main post? (both?)
thanks and sorry for all this run around.

Thanks for this (although the file size seems sorta weird for 65 mins). I've been waiting for a Pro-Sit DVD of the VH3 tour since forever.

Thanks, but check above posts and the main post about the release. its a dvd format but its from a VCD. maybe even DVD->VCD->DVD (not sure of that but it definitely isn't full DVD quality. :( still nice tho.)

Feel free to edit the main post (first post) to correct any mistakes.
NOTE: Do not edit any of the files in the torrent (on your hard drive) while the torrent is running! Doing so will mean having to re-create the torrent and start over from scratch.

Yeah I know the hashes won't match and what not if I did that. just curious if I should then provide an updated txt file or not...I'll just update the post for now.
thanks
Thanks for sharing i814u2! I was hoping / waiting somebody was gonna post this for a couple of months.

Quality audio ??????
Quality audio ??????
The audio is great. Just a couple glitches like I noted in the main post.
it was originally from a pro shot dvd so the audio is soundboard style, no audience unless they pipe it in, that sort of thing.

If you have a player that plays dvd type files , use that, or burn it and play it on your dvd player, or ya might have to get the right codec for media player...
or use something like , power dvd , or vlc player.....some program that plays dvd, nero player...

Correct Frank! I hate VCDs and certainly wouldnt convert one to DVD. Someone must have made a VCD from my original and then someone else converted it back  .
I dont do torrenting myself, but I will happily seed a copy of my original DVD via snail mail to someone here who is prepared to torrent it out.
The lineage is...
digital satellite TV>SVHS>DVD (Cato's) via GTH Electonics Ace Colour Corrector/TBC (lowering excessive brightness of the transmitted version)>DVD (Philips SA HQ setting with correct chapters)
Footage is excellent quality, NTSC 65 mins, bit rate 9 mbps approx, audio 384kbps.
1st person to PM me and is prepared to to seed here gets a copy free, no trade required.

I don't think you're going to find any artwork for a DVD->VCD->DVD transfer on this one....

Thanks for sharing this. :thumb: Eddie did play great on this tour.

There is a cover art file on vhtrading.com for the original dvd of this. (not that this is different except for the quality. same listing, etc.)
I can't believe people are still downloading this one when ChrisUK has offered an increadible upgrade.
I can't believe people are still downloading this one when ChrisUK has offered an increadible upgrade.
Well I'm guessing that since the download is free for most and no one has the real copy of the dvd version yet to seed....I'd do the same thing just to at least watch the show ;P
granted i'm a little nuts, too. :notme:

Oh my my.. nice one.
I've had this show for about 3 years and its just the VCD/DVD version.
I just can't beleave this show is not all over the place over the years done proper.
Its a modern show for pete sake.. its not like its rare/old... lol
LOTS of people should have this on VHS and DVD since day 1 it was aired.

Well, I think we all are a little nutz ... I've had a couple versions and I have the OSKY/Cato real version. NOT the DVD>VCD>DVD and it is the best version. As ChrisUK posted earlier in this thread, he'd never have anything to do with VCD. I'd Torrent it but I don't Torrent videos, well at least I don't Seed them. But Chris said he'd send a copy to someone else to Seed and I really hope someone has taken him up on it and I hope those that have downloaded this version will download the real version when it is Torrented because it is well worth it!
EDIT:
And just so it is clear I'm not slamming anyone, I think it is great that people share!

A copy is on its way to Jriguez who was the first guy to offer to seed. Thanks to everyone else who offered too. Some great people here, hope you all enjoy it when it get distributed.
By all means download the low res bastardized version if you cant wait to see the show, but please do not distribute it further. The original version will hopefully blow your socks off :D and you will throw the low res one in the bin!
Thanks,
Chris.

hey guys
just a warning, i can't get this to work on my computer OR my player. On my computer the audio plays with a frozen image. On my player the audio and image play but are distorted. i'd recommend waiting for the better version...
Anyone else download this and play it successfully?

I'd be willing to seed the version I've had for a few years..
I have to check the full specs (to be sure..)
But I think it's NTSC - Full res - DD 384..
As far as I know this is 1st gen dig copy.. And has no logo's .. No interuptions..
