Ok everyone... We don't want to intimidate anyone or discourage participation, but we MUST keep everyone on the same page here, or this place is going to be chaos.

In keeping with simplicity, here are a few simple guidelines for posting your shows. If we stick to these, we should be in good shape. Please take the time to read through this before posting a show.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Audio Bootlegs:

1) There is to be no copyrighted material. This much should be implied. If you can buy it from a major retail name like amazon.com, or in a local store... You can't post it.

2) The thread title should be identifying. I should be able to tell you, at least, the Artist, Venue, & Performance Date from the thread title alone.

3) Please post bootlegs in LOSSLESS formats only. FLAC and SHN files are the most common. Shows must not be, to the best of your knowledge, MP3 sourced at any point. To learn more about the detection of lossy formats in your bootleg's lineage, you can view this thread: http://www.jamtothis.com/showthread.php?t=376. It describes a method of testing using Exact Audio Copy, which you can download for free from here: http://www.exactaudiocopy.org/. For further information, you may also consult this FAQ: http://www.jamtothis.com/faq.php?faq=vb_faq#faq_eac. We understand that things may slip through... We will simply remove any files that are found to be lossy. Just do your best to ensure that only quality sourced material is circulated. In this way, we can help eliminate inferior copies. If you are interested in MP3 or other lossy formats, there are many share sites like http://www.guitars101.com (http://www.guitars101.com/) that will suite your needs perfectly.

4) Threads must have some sort of documentation pertaining to the show that is being posted. We also understand that documentation on some bootlegs is sketchy at best, and ask only that you post any notes you may have, and anything additional that you know about the show. At minimum, your post must have the Artist, Venue, Date, and the Setlist.

5) When you create the torrent file, itself, try to follow the same guidelines as the ones for thread titles. If you click on "Torrents" in the navagation bar at the top of the site, you will get a list of all torrents currently posted on the site. An uploaded torrent with a filename of simply "7/20/95" or "Disc 1" is way too confusing. As the site grows, keeping these filenames descriptive will ensure that you can always find everything we have to offer :)

6) Do not upload torrents that have known digital errors in them. We want to keep these recordings as clean as possible, and having them improperly encoded, full of digital errors and blips really doesn't help the trading community. We're not talking about source noises and pops, but the actual creation of the encoded FLAC or SHN files. So please check your files before you upload your torrent. Because in the future, all torrents that have files with errors on them will be removed from the tracker.

7) DO NOT create your torrent attachment names with any apostrophes (') in them. The apostrophe creates a problem for the tracker reading files names from the database, so just make sure your torrent title doesn't include them. Thank you.

Video Bootlegs:

1) See #1 Above.

2) See #2 Above.

3) Boots must be DVD extractions, DVD Images (.ISO), Moving Pictures Expert Group format (.MPG), or Windows Media (.AVI). DVD extractions can be a combination of .VOB, .BUP, .IFO file). These are the files that belong in the VIDEO_TS directory on the DVD. For .MPG & .AVI formats, DIVX encoding is preferred, although not required.

4) See #4 above.

5) See #5 above.

6) See #7 above.

Simple enough? If you have any questions regarding these guidelines or whether your boot meets them, please post them in the FAQ & Q&A forum here: http://www.jamtothis.com/forumdisplay.php?f=23.

Thanx everyone, and happy listening
