I think that's just a glitch in the program man. Because I think you are drawing probably 90% from POD GOD... I notice that if I set up a seed at home...then drive to work (about 10 minutes away) and connect to the torrent... it'll tell me 0 seeds when I'm 100% positive that there IS a seed. I'm not sure you can always trust those readings in terms of peers, leechers, seeds, etc. :confused:

Ok, I haven't got the space on my laptop, so beginning the download on my tower. Then I'll take to my mates again...

Restarting the download with Azereus to see how it goes. Seems faster. Restarted because I read that if you start with one BT client, then use another, you run the risk of a sumcheck error, i.e. corrupt file.

And that would seriously annoy me !

Azureus tells me I'm seeding at 28kbps... seems to me it should be faster with a cable connection, but I can't seem to get any faster than that. Although that's about 3X what I was getting with Bit Tornado, so we should be doing fairly well.

It's real easy man. Just open up the torrent file you created (and already uploaded) like you would with any other file. It will take azureus about 1-2 minutes per 100megs to verify the data for the torrent. Once the progress bar is complete, the torrent will move to the bottom frame, and your status will say "seeding". You can see your kbps 2-3 columns to the right of that. :thumb:

I just hit 10% and I am only on 56k ! I would advise using Azureus, as I have had faster speeds using this than Bit Tornado.

I don't know if you'd have to start downloading all over again though if you use a different program.

I only know that Azureus is faster.

If you guys are lookin' for more DVDs, I've got 8 videos from 2004 that I'm going to be posting, plus there are quite a few other people here going over and above to get shows out! They take a while though, so They'll be spaced about 2-4 weeks apart, depending on traffic and torrent speeds.

I guess that it depends on what Torrent Download Program you are using as to whether you will be able to see them whilst they are downloading.

Azureus lets me see the files and how much of each file has been downloaded.

If I go into Windows Explorer, it would appear as though all the files have already been downloaded, as space has already been reserved on my Hard Drive for the full space of all files. I believe this is the way Bit Torrent works. It reserves the space first, then downloads all the little pieces of the files to fill up the space. This way, you don't spend 6 days downloading only to discover that you don't have enough space !

That's a really good explanation man. That's exactly what happens. You end up with a slew of files of 0kb... each piece is then downloaded and compared with the Hash data, fingerprints, etc for the torrent. If everything matches when that file is complete, it is set aside for later.

After the entire torrent is done, it will then replace the "shell files" with the real deal.

To answer another question from above, it's not just a video. It's all of the files necessary to create this DVD in a single step, or convert to watch on your computer. (I think there are even Multimedia players that will decode VIDEO_TS folders now... can anyone verify that? I just burn them, so I've never needed one.)... anyway dude, whatever I put in that folder will be one of the files you download. If my hemeroid medication schedule was accidentally left in that folder, guess what... you get it with the torrent :thumb: That text file contains details about the show... source, and process to the computer, seat location at the concert, recording equipment, etc...whatever the creator decided to put in there. A lot of times, in the past, I would just delete those files after reading them, but that was before Eric's site. Before, with easytree or STG, I would just download, seed until the numbers matched or were heavy on U/L, then stop... I never posted a Bit Torrent show myself until here.

Anyway, I try to keep the torrents exactly as their creators distributed them. I figure they got the show to us somehow, the least we can do is respect their wishes and share on their terms... especially considering, having that text file in there shaves no skin off my rear end. :thumb:

Had to reinstall due to Windows XP SP2 stopping Reset 5.02 from working !

Anyway, I've reinstalled Azureus, and reopened the torrent file.

After initial checking, it says that I am at 23.7% which is correct, but it only says that I have downloaded 11.8MB. It does say that there is 2.91 Gb to go, but it used to also say had near 1.00 Gb downloaded.

Is this strange behaviour usual, because I always recall it got the Downloaded value correct ? Or is it something I should worry about, i.e. a corrupt set of files when I am finished ?

Dude, I wish I had an answer for ya'. It's really hard to tell, as I've never encountered that before.

Bit Torrents are usually pretty reliable in terms of data integrity... I would imagine that it would just get everything like it usually would... but I'm not positive.

I don't know that I would chance it, but do you really wanna download the 24% again... Tough choice bro...it's a toss up.

Otherwise, I had the same problem as you, I used DVD Lab (to view the Meadowlands DVD I downloaded from sharingthegroove.org), but all I could do was watch the video, no audio.

Some guys over at sharingthegroove.org said you could use winamp, but I could never get that to work either...

Software codecs for DVD video playback on your computer are tempermental at best. Some people are able to get them to play with no problem... other people have to download many different codec packs to get the one that happens to jive with their system.

Truth be told, the easiest solution is to buy yourself a decent DVD burner. You can get one that will do the job for well under $100 at http://www.compgeeks.com. That's the best way to go if you've got a few extra bucks. If not, then you could try going to the homepage of the software developer and try downloading updated codecs to decode DVDs... that MIGHT solve your problem.

I dont have a DVD burner so I will try to use some software to play this.

BTW, to answer the earlier question about why it says you have nly downloaded an amount that is smaller that what you have actaully downloaded, it is because it only shows the amount you have downloaded since the last time you opened the program. If you have 3gigs downloaded and you shut down the program and restart it, it will start from 0 not 3gigs. HOwever, that doesnt mean it is starting to download from the beggining of the program, it is still downloadidng from where yo left off.

You have to look at a DVD a bit differently than a standard video file. With an MPG... you just open up the MPG and watch... for a DVD, the entire folder acts as the video file (for lack of a simpler explanation).

If you had a burner, and you opened up a blank layout, there would be a folder called VIDEO_TS. You would simply copy all of those files (VOB, etc.) into that folder, then burn the disc, an voila - instant DVD.

As for what plays them best on a computer, I'm not exactly sure. Haven't had much experience with that, since I have a DVD burner. I would venture a guess and say that Nero 6 is probably capable. It's a pretty versitile suite of programs that can handle pretty much anything you can throw at it.

I would start there... or perhaps start a threat in the feedback section... somebody who knows a bit more about software decoding of DVDs might have a better answer for you. :thumb:

Ok cool deal. I finally finished this download last night. Then I got PowerDVD and the concert plays perfectly thank god. I even switched to that other program Azereus in mid download and it still came out great.

Good Good Good. Glad everything's going smoothly for ya'! I wasn't sure which players would do it... like I said, I just burn it off... don't think I've ever even tried to open one on the pooter.

If you want to conserve space, some of those players might also be able to export as an MPG... if the players won't, there are plenty of video converters out there that will handle the job. That would drop the disk size of a DVD from 3.5-4 gigs down to 600-700 megs. Little easier on your HD if you don't have a burner anyway. just a thought :thumb:

For the first few days, things crawed along just fine, but now I got nothing.

I got 2 or 3 "connection rejected by peer" messages due to an "unrecognized" IP address. Going to JamToThis.com, logging out & logging back in resolved that. (I guess my ISP reset my public IP because we lost power here after Hurricaine Frances - I'm In Ft Lauderdale, FL)

I still see people downloading from me; my Upload rate is active most of the time. But my Download rate has been zero for days.

Ok guys. We've got one person approaching done.

You may see some changes in the torrent's behavior over the next day or so. I've entered SuperSeed mode... it will slow a few of you down at first, but stick with it... the whole torrent will start picking up speed before long. Sorry to those of you affected, but it'll be for the best in the long run.

SuperSeed mode sends a small test packet to each one of you down the line every so often and determines everyone's upload capabilities. Then the systems with the best upload capabilities for this torrent are factored with the systems that are closest (quickest) to finishing the torrent. Then the program decides which 2-3 systems to give "preferential treatment" to. The theory behind this, of course, is that those systems will then be the best ones to act as more seed once complete. Mine will then kick out of superseed mode and we will have 3-4 of the best seeding systems on the torrent connected and finished all at once.
