This DVD was assembled using the video from Toasted's newly released "Unstoppable Metal Machine"and the audio from Watchtower's "Conquistador" 4 CD set.

I believe this to be the best sounding audio available, surpassing both the Genuine Masters and Empress Valley versions in sound quality.

This is, in my opinion, a serious upgrade to "Unstoppable Metal Machine". The upgrade version running over at TTD was my first ever try at anything like this. I took what I learned from that 1st attempt, went back to the drawing board - starting from scratch and put together this really nice set.

This is a 2 Dual Layer DVD set. Sorry for those that don't have the capabilities to burn this yet, but I felt that was the best way to present this show. I hope you all enjoy this version. I spent many, many hours putting this together and am glad to share it with you all now.

Shazzam Biotch! This sounds like it da bomb, man!

Thanx for all of your hard work (I know what's involved . . .*wink*) and thanx a million for sharing it here, at JTT! The rules being just a wee bit more relaxed and tolerant are definitely better for we "completists". :thumb: :thumb:

You are most welcome, and you definitely don't have this version yet. Today is the first time I have shared it anywhere.

I'm glad to give something of quality back to JTT. The shows that I've downloaded from here have all been highgrade.:thumb:
The rules are more my style too.;)

I usually get up to 120 - 125 kbs upload speed. So once I'm connected to a few people we should move along at a decent pace.

This is better than the 3 dvd Holy Grail that was released few weeks ago? i wasnt impressed with the audio, lacked bass.
And what do you mean by saying it's a 2 DVD9 disc's it's only 9 gigs total which is 2 DVD5's????

snivlle

One DVD 5 can hold 4.37 GB max . .. .this set is 9.27 GB which means that each disc is a couple hundred MB more than a typical DVD5 can hold.

Now before BonzoBonham throws something at me, I'm only talking about my own "personal" copy of the set. :D

I'm planning on mildly compressing my version (when I get it ;) ) with DVD Rebuilder Pro to fit the set on standard DVD5 discs. I use the Cinema Craft Encoder so it will result in the same quality as the original because of the small degree of compression required.

There's a reason that the full-blown pro version of CCE costs $2000. It goes far beyond the capabilities of any other mpeg encoder. The home version, which only costs about $65, is perfectly fine for most enthusiasts. A nice second runner up, for free under the GPL license, is the HC encoder.

Are you thinking of the 3 disc version released by Empress Valley? If so, it is from the previous night, the 24th. It only includes a small portion of the performance on the 25th.

I have the "Holy Grail" version also. You are absolutely correct, the bottom end is just to thin on that version for my taste. Part of the problem is the recording itself, the Earl's Court shows seem to be mixed differently than any of the soundboards from the 1975 North American tour. Unfortunately, John Bonham is not featured as prominently in the mix, and Jonesy's bass is a little muddied by comparison. That being the case, this version is simply the best audio I have found for this date. It is far better to my ears than the GM version used on "The Holy Grail".
As far as the DVD9's go, there was no way for me to put this on 2 regular DVD's and still remain totally lossless on the audio and video. Snivlle is correct in stating that each DVD is a few hundred mb more than a standard DVD could hold. I did not want to go the route that they did with the "Holy Grail" and use 3 regular DVD's. (I hate changing discs) So the 2 dual layer choice is what I went for. The extra cost of the DVD's is not an issue with me, because I do not use them that frequently. I am also able to burn them easily - so it made perfect sense.
I hope you enjoy the show, Bonzo

Thanks Bonzo, cant wait to watch it, prob be Fri night outside with my 106" outdoor screen!!!
Using a Optoma DV10 and subwoofer.
So your saying it's 2 DVD9's as there slightly oversized each to fit on a DVD5 or will it all fit on 1 DVD9?
I just looked and i got 1 DVD9 left!!
I'm sure a slight DvdShrink wont hurt anything if necessary.

That sounds like one hell of a A\V set up you have there !!

The combined total of both discs is 9.26 gigs. A DVD9 actually only holds 8.5 gigs (go figure) So it would not fit on 2 DVD5's or one DVD9. I would recommend grabbing some Verbatim Dual Layers and just burning it as is.... but hey it's my baby - I hate to think of anyone shrinking it.:p Either way, enjoy the show !!

Gulp!

Well, I wouldn't actually be "shrinking" them. DVD Shrink and most other easy-to-use DVD softwares use a process called "transcoding". What I would be doing for my own personal use, is actually re-encoding using the Cinema Craft Encoder. As an alternative, again, just for my own use, is to encode the audio using the Surcode Dolby encoder at a high bitrate of 448. Or . .. I might not do anything at all with the discs, and simply enjoy them the way they are.. . . which come to think of it, is most likely what I'll do. :p

I believe the audio source sounds better than the GM source used on the Holy Grail.

That being said, I am not knocking the Holy Grail. They did a great job putting the package together and getting it out to the fans with cool artwork and everything. The GM soundtrack is an upgrade to the original "Unstoppable Metal Machine" audio, that is for sure.

The audio I used from Watchtower's "Conquistador" just has more punch on the bottom end. The tip about which audio version of the show was the best came from Zeptrade, he knows his sh1t.

Looking forward to checking out your version - again, I haven't heard this audio.

Phil

The video source used on this set is Toasted Label's "Unstoppable Metal Machine".
The one you have from is from which show, the 24th or the 25th ??
The 24th has been available for quite a while now, while the complete 25th has just recently become available with the release of UUM.
