This collection is on two discs, and does contain artwork as well. There was another version of this seeded also last year that had some extra VH montages. This is the version without those extras. If you want to see the differences between this torrent and the other one, read this thread (http://www.jamtothis.com/showthread.php?t=5346). That one was called "Burnin' In Buenos Aires," and this one is called "Oh Argentina."

OSKY COMMENTS (January 2006)

The tape sent over to me ... is without a doubt the best quality version of this I have seen. I dont know the lineage but this would be my guess ...

PAL VHS master> PAL 1st gen (this is where the ads got edited out) > NTSC 2nd gen > DVD

... but I could be wrong!. Argentinian TV uses the PAL system so there has been standards conversion invoved in this disc that I didnt do. The conversion is OK, my guess is it was done on a Panasonic or Samsung conversion VCR. Reasonable, better than many ...

The gig runs at 83 mins so I captured it on my new Pioneer DVR-530H-S DVD/HDD deck. This unit has an awesome timebase corrector on the front end plus it also allows bit rates to be customised to within 5 min intervals. I used the 85 min setting which gave a video bit rate of 7.15 mbps, pretty much filling the DVD. The audio is at 256 kbps.

I didnt have to do much repair work, a little tweak of the colour levels and a bit of bass lift was all it needed.

My feeling is that until a PAL VHS TV master is found, this will be the best version around for a while ...


FM Productions COMMENTS (January 2006)

I was looking in boxes and boxes of VHS Tapes for something else when I came across this video. I contacted Osky Productions and asked if it could be put onto DVD. Osky graciously offered to do the transfer.

Osky did an awesome job.

I ripped the DVD I received via DVD Decypter, dexmuxed via Smartripper and then authored via DVD Architect. There was NO re-encoding of the video!

Decatone was also kind enough to make up the awesome artwork also found on the disc.

I hope everyone enjoys this awesome concert!

I have a 1 disc entire "Oh Argentina '83" show. I take this as the same show/production but better quality on 2 discs. 2 are better than 1? I am downloading this one now 'cause I'm a fan and will take 2 and compare in the morning...

P.S. - I hope Eddie can stay sober/clean up his act. Because it's pretty sad. Every interview I've watched (especially lately NAMM/EVH Guitar) he seems drunk and slurs his words. I wonder if the whole time he's been drunk - all those shit-eating grins are him sauced.:drunk: Sigh!

Nope Oh Argentina is only 1 disc, we never made a 2 disc version. With a running time of 81 mins there would be no need to put it across 2 discs as the bit rate is fine as it is IMO.

Seriously.... can you check this out..... maybe someone has authored another version of this concert and used the same title. Frank and I only made this a 1 disc title. I used the highest bit rate I could to fit the whole title onto 1 disc without wasting space.
